Sprint has announced the arrival of the Motorola i1, an Android-based push-to-talk smartphone, on July 25 (online/telesales). The handset, previously available on Boost Mobile, runs an interesting hybrid of Android 1.5 with some Froyo features added, in order to support PTT and other recent developments. The unREVoked team, responsible for creating the “painless root” APK for EVO 4G, has uncovered an alleged backdoor executable installed on Sprint Android phones including the HTC) EVO 4G and the HTC Hero. (It is not clear whether it is also found in the Samsung Moment or upcoming Motorola i1.)
